1. ATLANTIC CITY A/KA/
ATLANTIC CITY USA
|
SINGER
Starring: Burt Lancaster, Susan Sarandon, et al.
Director: Louis Malle
Rich character study of a
city in transition, focusing on small-time losers
who've stayed there too long and big-time dreamers
who are just arriving. European in its ambience and
storytelling approach, though its setting is an
American resort. Lancaster gives one of his finest
performances as an aging two-bit hood who's all style
and no substance. Screenplay by John Guare. First shown
abroad with the title ATLANTIC CITY, U. S. A

2. BEETLEJUICE
|
MAXIE DEAN
Starring: Michael Keaton, Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis,
Winona Ryder, Robert Goulet Director: Tim Burton
Newly deceased couple in need of help coping with
the afterlife, and obnoxious family who's moved into
their home, get it in the form of renegade spirit
Betelgeuse (Keaton, who pulls out all the stops).
Fantastic special effects make this a sort of live-action
cartoon. Added treat: Sylvia Sidney as harried case worker
in the hereafter. Great fun, and surprisingly good-natured
in spirit. Music by Danny Elfman, with a strong assist from
Harry Belafonte. Academy Award winner for makeup. Followed
by an animated TV series.

3. G-MEN FROM HELL
|
|
DEVIL
The story is about MIKE MATTRESS and DEAN CREPT,
two former FBI agents, or G-MEN, who were framd
and killed in an ambush, and then wrongly sent
to Hell. They escape back to earth, believing
that by performing good deeds, they would prove
that they were sent down to Hell by mistake.
There is one problem though: they were told what
to do their whole lives by the Bureau, and now
they are not sure exactly how to do a good deed,
or even what one is. |

4. GAY PURR-EE
|
JAUNE-TOM
Starring: Judy Garland Robert Goulet
Director: Abe Levitow
This little gem has the pedigree of a purebred Persian: it
features voices of no less than Judy Garland and Robert Goulet,
the original songs of Wizard of Oz composers Harold Arlen and E.Y.
Harburg, and the writing talents of animation giant Chuck Jones.
Garland gives life to our young heroine, Mewsette, a naive country
kitty who runs off to seek the bright lights of Gay '90s Paris;
Goulet is her devoted country bumpkin beau, Jaune-Tom, who sets off
to find her (accompanied by the scrappy kitten Robespierre). While
in Paris, Mewsette falls prey to the dastardly yellow-eyed Meowrice,
and his compatriot, Madame Rubens-Chatte (played with hilarious swagger
by Hermione Gingold), who runs a cathouse of ill repute off the Champs
ÉÉlyséées. The story is slim, itself a bit of an homage to Oz: country
girl longs to spread her wings, leaves home, and has many adventures,
only to discover that there's no place like home. But the stylized look
of the film is breathtaking--the French countryside looks like miles and
miles of Vincent Van Gogh's sensual Arles--and Garland and Goulet are in
fine voice. If you love surreal animation, Judy Garland, cats, or Paris--or
any combination thereof--this film will have you purring.

5. HONEYMOON HOTEL |
ROSS KINGSLEY
Starring
Robert Goulet
Nancy Kwan Robert Moorse
Jill St. John Elsa Lancester
Director: Henry Levin
This is Robert Goulet's movie debut. He and
Robert Morse go to a "honeymoon hotel" where
all the other guests are young and presumably
heterosexual, newlywed couples. |
|
6. I DEAL IN DANGER |
DAVID MARCH
Starring
Robert Goulet Christine Carèère Donald Harron
Horst Frank Werner Peters .... Eva Pflug
Christiane Schmidtmer John Van Dreelen
Director: Walter Grauman
David March, an American correspondent pretends to go
over to the Nazi's in World War II but is instead
working for the officially neutral United States
against Hitler. |

7. I'D RATHER BE RICH |
PAUL BENTON
Starring
Robert Goulet - Paul Benton
Sandra Dee Andy Williams
Maurice Chevalier
Hermioni Gingold
Director: Jack Smight
This is a light hearted comedy that simply sparkles.
Maurice Chevalier was continually humorous and made
the whole movie work. Sandra Dee, who played the
loyal granddaughter, did an excellent job. Robert
Goulet & Andy Williams were just the right blend
together on screen. It's too bad this movie is out
of print now. Hopefully, in the near future, this
wonderful movie will be shown again and I'll be right
there watching it! |

9. MR. WRONG
|
DICK BRAXTON
Starring: Ellen DeGeneres, Bill Pullman, Robert Goulet
Director: Nick Castle
Single DeGeneres finds the perfect man in Pullman...
or so she thinks. Not the light, funny romantic
comedy you might expect, but a dark-humored attempt
at satire on stalking. DeGeneres, in her starring
debut, turns in a fine performance opposite the
always reliable Pullman, but an uneven script works
against the cast.

10. NAKED GUN 2½: THE SMELL OF FEAR
|
QUENTIN HAPSBURG
Starring: Leslie Nielsen, Priscilla Presley,Robert Goulet
Director: David Zucker
It's more of Leslie Nielsen's
Lt. Frank Drebin, the bumbling cop from the old Police
Squad! television series. This time,Drebin uncovers a plot--
led by supervillain Robert Goulet!--to sabotage America's
energy policy. |

11. RECESS
|
MIKEY'S SINGING
VOICE
Principal Prickley gets his car stuck in a snowbank and decides
it has to be the fault of the Recess gang, but the kids' teachers
look back over the kids' misadventures and remember all the good
times they've had with T.J., Spinelli, and all the rest. A fun
holiday adventure featuring Robert Goulet's rendition of "Jingle Bells".
The Third Street Elementary School kids are teaming up to save summer
vacation for kids all over the world in Disney''s Recess: School''s Out——
the hit theatrical movie that The Washington Post calls ""Great Fun!""
The school year is finally ending, and T.J. Detweiler is looking forward
to summer. But boredom quickly sets in when his friends leave for camp——
until T.J. uncovers an evil plot to do away with summer vacation! A crazy
former principal, Dr. Benedict, is planning to use a laser beam to alter
the weather and create permanent winter. Faced with the dire threat of
year-round school,T.J. rounds up the Recess gang and bands together with
some unexpected allies—— Miss Finster and Principal Prickly——in a nonstop
adventure to save everyone's summer break. As the kids discover the heroes
inside themselves, a platoon of wacky characters, far-out music and sci-fi
surprises turn this madcap mission into a major victory for fun!
The soundtrack includes slices of vintage grooviness--Steppenwolf's
"Born to be Wild," Strawberry Alarm Clock's "Incense and Peppermints,"
and Robert Goulet's "Green Tambourine" get you cheering along,
whether you're 3 or 43.

12. SCROOGED
|
HIMSELF
Starring: Bill Murray, Karen Allen, et al.
Director: Richard Donner
Ostensibly a hip, funny rereading of Dickens' A Christmas Carol,
with Murray as a venal TV executive. The laughs are mild and
widely scattered, and toward the end the film seems to want us
to take its brotherhood message seriously. Or does it? A variety
of ``guest stars'' appear in cameo roles.

|
13. THE LAST PRODUCER |
HENRY MOORE
Starring
Burt Reynolds Anne Margaret
Charles Durning Rod Steiger
Robert Goulet
Director: BURT REYNOLDS
Burt Reynolds plays an aging Hollywood producer.
Knowing that he is soon going to die or not to
have anymore importance, he bets all he has, all
his love for the cinema, all his strength, in doing
his last movie, his best work, something for which
he wants the people to remember him by... |
1999 |
14. TOY STORY 2
|
WHEEZY'S SINGING VOICE
Starring: Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, et al.
Director: Lee Unkrich, John Lasseter
One of the few sequels to live up to and top
the original: a clever and engaging tale of cowboy
doll Woody falling into the hands of a sleazy toy dealer.
This can be purchased on
